The Shambles + Twisted Tail Wedding
Emily and RJ recently moved out to California and came back to Philly for their wedding in June. You may remember Emily and RJ from their Venice Beach engagement shoot which you can find here. I have so much love for these two. Plus Emily grew up with my husband, Logan, so there were lots of familiar faces at this wedding. And I loved it!
I haven’t spent much time in Philly but I quickly feel in love with it as soon as I got there. It actually looks a lot like parts of Brooklyn! From colorful mosaics, to ivy covered brick to traditional row houses, Society Hill has it all and makes for a gorgeous wedding backdrop. Emily rented an incredible airbnb filled with character and natural light (basically a photographer’s dream). She has a true appreciation for photography and it shined through in all aspects of her planning their wedding. We took their portraits right outside in a tiny alleyway which had endless photo opportunities. I literally wish I could steal that gorgeous mosaic Emily spun in front of. And it may be one of my favorite photos ever. Emily – you are a vision! They then shared their vows privately while we took photos from a distance before heading over to their ceremony.
Guests gathered at The Shambles and were greeted with cold beverages on a quite hot and humid day. Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend who made it personal and unique to Emily and RJ. After the ceremony, cocktail hour continued until guests headed across the street to the bar, Twisted Tail, for the reception.
The reception was laid back and casual, just like Emily and RJ. The decor at Twisted Tail is so fun that you really don’t need to add much for a party there. But Karena from Papertini added simple yet gorgeous flowers to top it all off. Guests enjoyed food, games, a live band with dancing and then… the Phillie Phanatic. Yes, Emily surprised RJ with his favorite mascot of all time. And yes, he was completely shocked. And yes, it was so much fun.
